STEM Maker Lesson Plan

  Identify the benefits of incorporating maker education into your future classroom. The benefits of incorporating maker education into your future classroom which encourages students to " try things themselves, share ideas, ask questions and make mistakes." This is beneficial to my future classroom because students will be able to participate in their education rather than just writing down what they are doing and not feeling involved and asking questions about what they are learning.  Describe the maker-inspired lesson you have designed, including the learning objectives, materials needed, and step-by-step activities. The lesson that I have designed is one that is meant to allow students to show their creative sides but also figure out how to disassemble and reassemble an item.  When talking to my CT about learning analytics in her practice I learned a lot about how the data she collects from the different sites they use like Study Sync and their IReady scores to see where the students are at within their grade levels or within their age range. She uses these scores to decide what the students need to work more on and to see which groups the students will be placed into. Looking at the scores from Study Sync she uses these scores to see the students' writing abilities and where they are within their abilities to comprehend readings that they are doing within the workbook. She uses this data to also look more at where the student's comprehension is of these reading and understanding abilities while in 8th grade.  Looking at how she uses IReady scores to see where students are and help them improve their reading skills and math skills which she does not look at as much.
