Blended learning
From my personal experience, as a student with blended learning I mainly used online sites like Khan Academy and Kahoot. We used these in English and Math classes. I am not sure exactly what the uses for these were because I cannot really remember what we had used them for other than those classes I previously mentioned. I remember not liking to use Khan Academy, but I am not sure why I did not like it. Kahoot on the other hand was very fun and a good part of class whenever we did activities on there. This would all go along with the subjects we were currently learning about in those classes and help us study or learn more about them.
Blended learning can be used to personalize instruction and meet the needs of individual students by using certain programs or options that can work towards a specific student's academic goals. A lot of websites can allow you to take pre-assessments that will place you where you need to be placed. If I were to implement blended learning options into my classroom, I would make sure students have access to certain technologies while in school to do the work needed but never send them home with work that may require internet or technologies that some students might not have access to at home.
I do see an increase in students' screen time as a downfall because they need to have time where they are not always looking at a screen and not working and seeing the class as it is. By giving extra screen time students might not be experiencing different hands-on aspects of the classroom. Screen time could be effectively managed while promoting health digital habits in a blended learning classroom by setting a set amount of time each class period that they spend online or by letting your students know that being online a lot might not be the best option and that they need to have real-world experiences that do not have them constantly online.
