How EdTech is changing the face of Education Response

Looking at my own use of technology in the classroom in high school we used a lot of different technologies but ones that were not as advanced as other schools would. We had chrome books that were placed in every classroom. When we went online for Covid we were all given our own Chromebook to use in case we did not have a computer to use at home and also so they could pay more attention to what we were doing on them. Other technologies in my high school would have just been the projectors we had in every classroom. I do not remember any other technology in classrooms other than the TVs on Rolly carts and the old projector with the plastic pages to write on.

In elementary school, we had pretty much the same amount of technology, but I do not really remember how often or what exactly we used in the classroom. In College, I have used about the same amount of technology as my laptop, projectors, and other smaller pieces of technology. The courses I take do not allow me to use newer and different technologies other than theatre courses that allow me to use different programming methods.

The future of EdTech in the classroom will be one that greatly affects how students will be learning. I think that this will help students greatly by allowing them more and more access to technologies that can help them further their skills and understanding of certain subjects and materials. It can allow students to be more prepared later on in life when their future careers may need them to have a lot of knowledge of certain technologies. I believe this because by allowing them access to these newer technologies they will be able to experience more that will help them pick future careers that without this technology in their lives they may never know is possible. Parents can see how their students are doing more by using different EdTech that schools may be offering.

I think that Jarrett is on track in his ideas of how EdTech is changing the face of education because as technologies are advancing, they should also be advancing in the classrooms. He gives lots of different technologies in the classrooms that will be able to help students, but some schools also might not be able to get these technologies that will further the education for some students but not all of them.

Some ethical and social issues that EdTech might raise could be different schools that do not have the same funding or access to these technologies because of where they are. This could be addressed by having states put out funding for schools to get EdTech so students can all be learning and have the same number of privileges as other schools. Schools should not have such a big difference in learning if they were able to fund all schools equally or not have such big gaps.
