What inspired me to be a Teacher

My inspiration to be a teacher would be from a few different people. My grandfather was a high school drivers ed teacher for many many years before he passed and also coached the high school and a local college football team for years. I saw the impact that he had on my community and I wanted to make that kind of impact also by following in his and my uncles footsteps. I have 3 other teachers in my family including my uncle, cousin and sister which is something that I have always been very proud of because of the impact I know we are making/going to make for students.
I hope to leave the legacy of being the teacher that made sure my students felt welcomed and knew that they can come to me for problems in school and if they need a listening ear. I want to have a welcoming environment for my students. I know I will need to have an open mindset going into the school year since I have not been in this position of full teaching like this and know that this is a different grade level and school setting then I have worked in before.

  1. I love your experience! You have a lot of teachers in your family, and I'm glad you're choosing to follow in their footsteps while still doing your own thing!

  2. I also feel the same way about creating a welcoming environment for my classroom as well. It's great to see how many of your family members are in the education field and it's great that you are following in their footsteps in some sort.

  3. You will do great! I know it is corny, but remembering and reconnecting with your 'why' is important.

  4. Your warmth always show and your students will feel it and embrace it. They will know you care about them. Just remember to be firm and kind making sure they know the expectations. Emotional strength is important as a teacher so you are able to navigate the students effectively and be a strong teacher. A teacher enjoying her students in an orderly manner.
