Assistive Technologies

Looking at my placement classroom I have noticed a few AT supports. These would include wobble chairs which allow students who need some extra movement to move around while in class then also on the majority of the chairs, she has bands around the front legs that allow the students to bounce while sitting also. In my different classes throughout life (not sure what time though) I remember having yoga ball seating, and pencil grips but nothing else really that I remember seeing used. Looking at AT supports I find the most helpful would be the seating because it allows me to fidget while in a classroom environment which helps me personally concentrate better.  3D modeling can be used to create tactile teaching aids for students with visual impairments by allowing students to feel the object that is being talked about or being able to follow along with the discussion in a math class with graphs by having models of them that they can use pins to push into the different section o...

SAMR Model

The SAMR Model helps educators make sure that they can use technology in ways that help transform a student's learning experience. Four different levels make it useful for integrating technology into the classroom because it allows different functions of technology that can enhance or transform a student's learning entirely. These Levels are substitution which has no change other than taking one thing away. Next is Augmentation which substitutes one thing but has some improvement that is functional to the student. I would design a digital project that aligns wit...

Checkology Reflection

I chose to do the InfoZones lesson because I liked the idea of working on and getting to understand the differences between the advertising methods and if I could figure out what is what. Some of the key words that I would get out of this would have been entertainment which would have been media meat to entertain or advertising which is there to try to sell something. Something that I can take away from this lesson would be being able to tell the difference between the six zones of media. Nothing on this was new or surprising to me and I was able to understand the concepts pretty quickly. I had never had any classes that would have shared this kind of information while in high school or middle school, I can remember happening.  My confidence in information literacy and my personal skills is probably about where people my age should be. I can tell and use the information and the internet in ways that I need to and not have to worry about if I am doing something right or if I am doin...
